Why Choose Berner’s Energy Recovery Systems?
As increased ventilation & energy performance design strategies are investigated, it is important to determine how these strategies can be integrated into the design. Our expertise in thermodynamics, HVAC systems, our open thinking, our design capabilities, and our manufacturing processes make us an easy to work with provider of fresh air ventilation & energy recovery solutions for both new and existing buildings.
We have created five product categories based on common project goals:
- TRC – The Complete TRICOIL® System: Stand alone fresh air unit with energy recovery, pre-cooling, heating and / or cooling and free reheat with optional hot water heating.
This system adds fresh air with a minimal increase in air conditioning tonnage, as low as 2.5 tons per thousand CFM, and also provides proactive dehumidification of the building. Adding free pre-cooling allows for conditioning 100% outside air at the same tonnage as re-circulated air.

- TRO – TRICOIL® System: Single Fan and Coils: Stand alone fresh air unit with pre-cooling, heating and / or cooling and free reheat with optional hot water heating.
With the TRO, fresh air can be brought in while providing proactive dehumidification of the building without the presence of an energy wheel or exhaust air stream. This unit is ideal for providing load neutral make-up air requirements.

- SRC – Single Rotor & Coils: Stand alone fresh air unit with energy recovery, and heating and/or cooling.

- ERV – Energy Recovery Ventilator: Stand alone fresh air unit with energy recovery only.

This unit can be used as a stand alone or in conjunction with the main heating / cooling system as a fresh air pre-conditioner. It consists of a rotor and two fans (supply and exhaust) but does not add additional static pressure. It pre-cools and dehumidifies fresh air in summer (and preheats in the winter) for about 1/4 of the energy normally required.

-
SFR– Single Fan & Rotor: Adds fresh air & energy recovery to an existing HVAC system.
The SFR can be added if the existing exhaust or supply fan can handle a small added pressure drop created by the Energy Recovery Wheel. Retrofitting energy recovery is a cost effective way to add fresh air.
